The short version. We store what you type into your pet's guide so your sitter can read it. We don't sell it, we don't advertise, and you can delete all of it permanently from inside the app at any time.

What we store

Only what you enter. Depending on what you fill in, that can include:

None of this is required. Leave any field blank and the app works fine without it.

Who can see it

You, and anyone holding a live sitter link you created. That's it.

A sitter link is a long random code. We store only a one-way fingerprint of it, never the code itself, so the link cannot be reconstructed from our database. You can set a PIN on it, give it an expiry date, and revoke it at any time — revoking takes effect immediately.

Sitter pages are marked to keep search engines out and are not listed anywhere. Anyone with the link can open it, so treat it like a house key and revoke it when the stay ends.

Payments

Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers. We store your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers so we know whether your account is on the free or paid plan.

Where it lives

On Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase) in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by security rules so one account cannot read another's.

What we don't do

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Deleting a pet removes its guide, links, and message history. Deleting your account removes everything, including your login.

Delete everything

Sign in, open the app, and use Delete my account at the bottom of the Home tab. It removes every pet, guide, sitter link, dose record, and message, cancels any subscription, and deletes your login. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

Children

PetHandoff is for adults. It isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Not medical advice

PetHandoff organizes the care instructions you write. It doesn't give veterinary advice and doesn't recommend doses or treatment. Always follow your veterinarian.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we'll say so in the app.
